Occupation: Retired as Global Vice President - Quality, Safety and Six Sigma for AZ Electronic Materials on March 31, 2011.
Retired December 31, 2004, as Worldwide Quality Director for Praxair Surface Technologies, Inc. Served in numerous plant management and quality management positions for Union Carbide /Praxair Coatings Service from 1981 through 2004. Held numerous staff and management positions at Union Carbide Nuclear Division from 1967 through 1981.
Education: M.S., University of Tennessee, majoring in physics. M.B.A., University of New Haven, Connecticut. B.S., University of Tennessee, majoring in physics and mathematics.
Other Activities: Held numerous offices in Lions Club at local and district levels in
Tennessee, Indiana, Missouri and Connecticut. Received two International President Certificates of Appreciation and one International President Medal. Former member of American Society for Quality, holding numerous local offices and serving as national Parliamentarian for three years. Member of American Institute of Physics.
Served on the Bethesda Lutheran Homes and Services, Inc., (now AbleLight) Board of Directors from 1992-2004 serving as Vice Chairman 2002-2004. Board of Bethesda Lutheran Foundation 2006 – 2016; Vice-Chairman 2007-2009; Chairman 2009-2016.
Family: Fred and Diane have nine children, 28 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. They live in Fairfield Glade, TN where Fred plays a lot of golf and they are active in church and community projects.
